About me … hmm… well. I have a varied background - it took me a long time to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with my life. I served in the USMC, sold cars, worked professionally in the restaurant industry, then went back to school and got a Masters and a PhD in Music Theory while working part-time as a music director at a church. I fell in love with the church job and felt called to do that full time. So upon graduation, about 2 years ago, I moved to AR and became the full-time music director of a church. Unfortunately, I have a hard time saying no and within the last two years have also become chair of one board, member of another board, a private piano teacher, and when Covid hit I immersed myself in learning how to record and do audio and video editing to keep my choral groups going. The stress and anxiety has mounted thoughout this year to the point where a few weeks ago I found myself in the ER saying “I think I’m having a stroke.” Turns out, not a stroke. It was shingles inside my ear and Bells Palsy which my doctor swears was brought on entirely by my stress and anxiety levels.
In my second week at home, supposed to be “resting” but feeling overwhelemed instead, I took to googling and came across DoYogaWithMe’s website. I have been working my way through the Yoga for anxiety and stress and depression series and have found the first moments of peace I’ve experienced in years. I’m also using the Yoga Nidra for Sleep meditation before bed which has helped me relax tremendously and actually get some much needed sleep! I look forward to continuing to grow in my practice over time and am so grateful to have discovered this wonderful community! Thank you!!
