Pronated ankles

Hi,

I am an older student and avid yoga practitioner. I have always had some difficulty with standing balance poses (on one foot). I am tall (which does not help) and have bilateral pronated ankles (i.e. my feet roll in and flatten the arch when I bear weight on that foot). I have a slender build and small joints. Are there adjustments or exercises that I can do to compensate for this issue? I would like to strengthen and stabilize my ankle joints.

Thanks!

Hello there and welcome!

I have ankles that easily pronate as well, so I can relate to your question. Have you checked out my video on foot balances?

Learning to Balance on One Foot

You can also find classes that focus on balance on our Yoga Classes page by choosing ‘Balance’ under the Focus drop down menu.

I hope that helps!
