Just wanted to first say how much I love DYWM, I have been a subscriber for many years and love the variety of classes available.
However I am currently having issues finding suitable classes to do because I have an irritated fat pad in my right knee which means I can’t do any postures that involve kneeling or putting pressure against the knee eg cat cow. I am trying to modify as I go along but I wondered if anyone has any suggestions of classes that have little or no such postures in them, I tend to mostly do the intermediate classes. And also I’d be interested in any alternatives to cat cow that I can do. Thanks you in advance for any suggestions. x
Hi Kate, So sorry to hear you are in discomfort! I hope that the issue heals soon.
It can be tricky, as you are discovering, to find classes that do not have some element of kneeling in them. The best thing you can do is find some really great modifications to sub in for certain movements that are causing discomfort. One idea in table top would be to straighten the leg that is hurt. Kind of like half table top, half plank if that makes sense? You would be able to do all the same movements from that base. Low plank is also a pose you could pop into when table top is called, it is just a little more effort.
Thanks Fiji, I’ll try that modification next time I’ve been managing to find good modifications for other poses but table top had stumped me, so look forward to trying it out.
