Yoga for hyperlordosis

Hi, I have too deep lumbar curve, can I practice Beginner Yoga for Optimal Lower Back Health?

Absolutely! That would be a great program for you.

Two things to keep in mind… for people with a deep lumbar curve:

  1. Your hip flexors will be very tight. Any class that works on stretching the hip flexors would be great for you, for example my Hip Flexor Heaven or Yoga for Cyclists or Rachel’s Bow Pose: Hip Flexor Release

  2. It would be very helpful to strengthen our core, which are a group of muscles that help contain the deep lordosis and protect the lower back. Pilates is great for this and we have a lot of class on the site that you can start with, either with Kim Wilson or Kathi Ells. Begin with the Pilates Fundamentals: The Five Principles with either of them. You can find them by going to our Yoga Classes page and under the Style filter choose ‘Pilates’.

Take care,
