I hope to teach in Italy one day!
Great suggestions here, an endurance challenge for intermediate 1 would be a great idea, and creating challenges with classes that are all the same length is something we are shifting into, it does help with schedules! 1 hour classes would be one of the options we use!
I am so inspired! I hope to be doing vinyasa when I am 80 too!! This is a great suggestion, we should be shifting in our practice as our bodies shift and our needs change, this is what makes yoga sustainable over a lifetime. I will add this idea to the list!
Thank you for your kind words, I do put a lot of consideration into the way that I cue the classes I teach. I love hearing that you and your wife practice together and have common and unique goals you are working on. I am designing a new skill building series that I will be filming later this month, I think it will be something your wife will appreciate a great deal. I also like the idea of shaking things up and doing some more unique combinations and classes!
Thank you for your feedback!
The peak pose series we have on the site was a great hit, it is time we add more of those! I am going to be filming a new skill building series later this month, I think it is along the lines of what you are thinking!
When you do the challenges I often donāt stick to them because sometimes the classes arenāt long enough on some days and I lose interest, going back to some old favouritesā¦a twenty minute practice usually is less than I want to do. Iād love a challenge that had more consistently 30-50 minute classes daily, building on each other.
An intermediate level 1 moving to 2 challenge would be great. Iād suggest Ron or Guy for this (can we have more intermediate from Guy???!).
Yes! I love this suggestion. Iām in my 50s, but I do find Iāve slowed down a bit. I sometimes take a little longer to get into the poses. I love fun sequencing, but maybe just a little slower with the transitions.
We are in the midst of creating a new challenge for men, and looking to create challenges that have a somewhat uniform length of time for the classes so people can choose a challenge that best suits them.
Hi Fiji,
I would love to see more supine wall practices for Beginner 2 or Intermediate 1. There just arenāt many such practices out there and they are so wonderful. Also, Iād benefit from more practices that avoid pressure on the hands and feet. I am an active yoga participant but always have to figure out work arounds for arthritis. Lots of practices geared to the over 50 crowd are at the Beginner 1 level, which is frustrating. Thanks.
I have managed to improve my flexibility quite a bit over the last year by practicing yoga however I would like to suggest (as others have) some classes or challenges focusing on improving flexibility in a more focused and/or intense way. I would most definitely love more Yin Yoga to attain better flexibility for my joints, but also classes / challenges focusing on flexibility of the muscles. I would also be very keen to have more classes on how to stretch properly from a technique point of view; when to stretch (before or after yoga session?), how to do it safely, how to achieve the greatest impact etc. I get far more out of yoga now that I am more competent and flexible than a year ago; stretching and flexibility sessions (and more Yin Yoga!) would be fantastic additions I, for one, would love to see more of.
I would also suggest classes focusing on obtaining specific skills: goal-orientated if you like, as someone has already suggested, such as classes to explain how to master balancing skills and how to balance more effectively, how and what to practise to move oneself along the learning curve more effectively, armed with the correct knowledge and understanding of what works and what doesnāt (and what is actually dangerous!). As well as balancing, maybe classes on pulling apart poses and showing / explaining the different elements involved, what you need to practise to improve, just HOW to achieve them over time. Thanks for the opportunity to put forward these suggestions!!
These are all such great suggestions! Flexibility as a focus sounds like a common theme coming up often and is something we will need to create a challenge around for sure. There could also be a challenge created around the idea of learning the ins and outs of poses from an alignment based perspective, we could use the peak pose series as well as some of our pose tutorials to do this. Thanks for you insight!
I would love a 30 day challenge with classes that have a duration of about 60 minutes. Intermediate-Advanced level. Not so much advanced because of the challenging poses, but more challenging our endurance and core strength. Integration of breathing techniches would be a nice add on.
Kind regards from the Netherlands and many thanks for the wonderfull do yoga with me classes.
Love the classes. Iād like to see a series of intermediate I classes that lead us to regular practice. Maybe a 3 month challenge with 3-4 days a week of yoga.
What I need for met personally is yoga for hips, (Iām 69 this year) yoga for after biking, walking, weights. I think most are already on the site so I can find those. Just thought Iād add that. What I really do need is getting regular and consistent.
First of all, thank YOU and all of the other instructors at DYWM for providing such quality content. One of my favorite series is your chakra flow. Iāve done it quite a few times and always learn something new.
While most of the content that Iām looking for already exists on the site, my wish list would include
a partner class/2 day challenge for the weekend
seasonal themed yoga classes - (solstices and equinoxes as well as classes that address new growth in the spring, fullness in the summer, letting go in the fall, etc.)
I really enjoyed Davidās āMeditate and Flowā livestream class and would add it to my regular rotation of classes if the poor quality of the audio wasnāt so distracting. Is there any chance that this class could be re-filmed in the studio?
Thanks again for adding light, flexibility and strength to my days. I look forward to seeing the new content that you create.
Yay!! I love your comments, I have been wanting to create challenges for the seasons for many years. Watch for them, I would love to make a 7 day challenge for each season along with Ayurvedic practices to support wellness.
I would love to see another post-natal series designed for the intermediate/advanced yogi who is used to the challenges that you have already made on this site! I liked the two classes you made already, but it would be great to have a 14 day, post-natal focused, intermediate challenge to help transition back to the normal classes again!
Some of the suggested challenges, particularly the mention of wrist-free yoga, are also applicable to one of my favourites: yoga for bigger bodies. There are a few classes here and there, and they tend to assume the yogi is a beginner. Some of us have been doing yoga for many years, but parts of our bodies get on the way of ābasicā asanas.
Hello and thank you for asking for input into your programs! Something that has been on my mind a lot is developing strength. There is a lot and I mean a lot of varying information about keeping strong as we age, the yoga Iāve been doing has mostly been for stretching and Iād love to see a program, that begins at a low level and gradually builds to develop strength. A year ago , I was stronger, having had a gym membership, even though Iām 61. I didnāt think I was all that strong but have noticed a difference having not been able to go to the gym. So this suggested program would be both educational about building muscle strength and doing just that gradually (especially for us seniors who unfortunately are battling a muscle loss as hormones change). Well , it would be interesting to hear what might be possible.
Thanks! Heather A.
I love the challenges - itās my favorite way to keep my practice consistent. Thank you so much for asking for our ideas. I know there are yoga for work classes but taking breaks in my midday is now more important than ever and Iād love something focused on desk workers - especially something having to do with eye strain considering how much screen time we all spend. I also have TMJ and would love anything that could support that as well.
