I definitely use the filters! Level, then instructor. I usually find a good class to do. Some days I choose level then style. I have really enjoyed your site and recommend it to friends and colleagues.
I usual search for classes depending on how my body feels that day. Other criteria are the teacher and length of length of the class. There is usually a time constraint so I go with the same teacher. Am definitely ready to explore new ones.
Love this website, the best yoga one I have ever used
thanks for all the work you put into it.
I select classes by teachers & after a year, settled on Melissa Krieger, whose slower pace suits my preference for Iyengarās focus on alignment & holding asanas to encourage yogaās healing powers to don its work.
She seems to be the only teacher who, early on in the story of DYWM,
generously offered 2 free classes of 50+ minutes, which means more variety of asanas to perform during he classes.
If DYWM is looking to reduce costs of producing & maintaining this remarkable & quality site, perhaps reducing the time exposing students to the closing asanas at the end of all classes, as well as the time instructors take to transition between one asana & the next, while explaining what to expect etc could help.
Thank you for all your hard wotk & quality classes. It will be a sad day indeed if the technology you depend on becomes too costly.

Yes collecctions are a really great time saver and thosel lists can constantly evolve too as new classes get added to the site!
A wonderful site and I try to practice 3 times a week. I selected the teachers whose instructions are clear, who que me on the breathing and make me put an effort. As for the level, I do not limit my choice to Intermediate II or III: I think that going back to basics is very important especially in the absence of a person who would correct me on the spot. (For example, Saradaās classes are for beginners but I find her presence and instructions enlightening and hope that she records more.) I then select the time length: typically, within one week I would select one longer class (over 45 min) and two shorter classes but no less than 30 min.
As for the āwishesā, I wish that the search mechanism would improve. For instance, I want to find a class with less use of shoulders and minimal downdog because it feels that I strained my shoulder or ligament in the area of supraspinatus muscle and I want to find a practice with little to no downdog. I do remember that Tracy had one but the search mechanism would not yield satisfactory results. Also, it is hard to find beginning of a series sometimes (or a class in a series): you have to do a few counter-intuitive clicks like clicking on the teacherās name on a certain page and then go somewhere else to finally locate the first classā¦
Thank you for posing the questions!
Thank you for the suggestions!
Shout out to someone else who doesnāt like downdog! (It hurts my shoulder, also.)
All three ā¦ā¦but firstly I pick the instructorā¦.I have to feel a connection with the way they cue. .Iāve been taking more or less daily classes with DYWM for six months now so Iām getting comfortable with several instructorsā style of teaching so I definitely gravity to them! I enjoy a peaceful session - an instructor who leads me through the session with pauses of silence and maybe a touch of humour here and there. A never ending stream of coaching terms and meditative quotes just doesnāt do it for me!
Then I check for the length of the class ā¦ā¦not too short yet not to long ā¦ā¦30 - 40 minutes suits me fine unless I take a session that focuses purely on a body part that may be achy, then a shorter session isnāt an issue. I love Davidās 16 minute class that focuses purely on releasing neck tension.
And then Iāll check the level ā¦ā¦anything in beginner and up to but not including intermediate 3.
I use the filters, but this is perhaps the place to feedback that they are quite clunky and old-fashioned, and did not improve with the website redesign ( they just got ported exactly as were, a missed opportunity IMHO).
I was also really looking forward to the new facility to save and view classes that Iād already done, but the workflow for this is not very user friendly, and buried so deep that I stopped using it.
Hi Elena,
Thank you for your feedback, are you using the my studio on your account? It allows you to create collections and see history.
I use My Studio to access saved classes easily.
I usually do one in the morning to wake up my body. I tend to gravitate towards outdoor settings with Figi or Tracey.
It would be so nice to not have to choose! Would love a monthly calendar where practices were roughly 20-30 min long with longer practices on the weekends. I have enjoyed a couple of the challenges, but a lot of them have really erratic timings from day to day, and I always end up falling off the wagon.
We have had this request before so I think it would be worth making a few 30 minute challenge! Watch for these to come soon!
Iāve been on the site since the beginning, so I usually wind up returning to one Iām familiar with via the search filters. But I would love an option to jolt me out of my comfort zone every once in awhile and to get acquainted with some of the instructors Iām less familiar with. The monthly calendar mentioned above seems like a good idea, or (as Iāve suggested before) possibly some iteration of a random button.
Weāve received these requests before, so I thought it would be a good idea to create some 30 minute challenges! Stay tuned for this coming soon!
