What New Series Would you like to see added?

We are creating a new content area on our site called series! Here you will find collections of practices that are connected by a theme and intended to help practitioners to grow and develop in that area of focus. Some of this content was previously in our challenge area, but we felt it really did not match the title challenge. We want to create series that will help you expand your practice and experience of yoga. So share your thoughts in this thread!

I actually really like the idea of calling it “series.” It feels more relaxed and inviting than “challenge,” you know?

Like, I’d be more likely to try something if it feels like I’m building on it step by step, not competing with myself.

Maybe you could group them by focus too, like one for flexibility, one for calming the mind, stuff like that. I think that would help people find what they need a lot easier.

Many of the DYWM challenges used to be 30 days but now they are almost always 14 or less. I enjoy these as a personal challenge to commit to doing yoga every day. For me 14 days is not enough time to build a habit. I would love more 30 day intermediate/advanced challenges like Empower Yourself, Transform Your Life, Poise and Perseverance, and Daily Dose. These also encourage me to try new classes with different instructors. I love the New Year Challenge and I wish these would go back to being 30 days.

What about a holiday challenge? It would be great to have an intermediate challenge of shorter classes during this time. Something similar to Return to Routine but 30 or even 45 days to take you from late November to the new year.

Hi! I would like to request yoga/pilates classes with resistance bands - they take up little space, are portable and affordable, in contrast to weights. I have been interested in them for some time, but the classes I have found online are soulless or off putting. Thanks!

I would really like to have a special series that combines an explaination of the technical anatomy interplay with yoga practice. It would be interesting to have a really skilled, pro-yoga physical therapist explain the dynamic of how yoga can be a complement to physical healing / treatment. I understand that yoga is not medical treatment from a licensed health practitioner, but it would be great to have a series that inform practice with the in depth physio-anatomocal workings of the body.

Dealing with a full-thickness rupture to my supraspinatus tendon on my right shoulder, I have been modifying my practice. I have really appreciated Fij’s shoulder stability and transition Labs. I would like to see a series focused on shoulder stability and possible modifications to enable those of us with this type of injury to continue a yoga practice without more damage to the shoulder joint. Thank you!

I would like a beginner series for those of us “older” folks. I can still do a lot but having a series that proceeds through most of the body parts to stretch and strengthen would be wonderful! I have done most of the existing beginner ones already…so this is a great new refreshing idea!

I love this idea. My suggestion is to have a grouping by body parts. I have nerve issues in my arms and hands and would really like an easy grouping to go to. And also other ones, like shoulder, Lower back, legs etc.

Hi Figi, I have been a DYWM member for the past five years and was practicing yoga daily. Recently, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and I am currently undergoing chemotherapy. I am trying to keep up my yoga as much as possible, however doing more gentle classes. I was wondering if DYWM could create a series for cancer patients as we move through our journey with our yoga supporting us. Is it possible for you to make a new series for us? I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.

Hi Valerie,

I am happy to hear yoga is part of your healing and that you are listening to what your body needs during this time. Yes this is a great idea and one we have considered. I will bring it forward again to see what we can create!

Thank you Fiji. I really appreciate you and DYWM team’s consideration with my suggestion.

Kindly,
Valerie
