Sangha Session 16: "What is the biggest thing that you feel our site is missing, the one thing you wish we had?

I’m excited for everyone to explore our upgrade, which will launch soon. It will include many of the features in this thread, and more. It will help you track your classes better, follow certain teachers and find classes that are similar to the ones you have been doing.
Thanks for the continual feedback! It’s really helpful for us.
Cheers,

I just started yoga for the first time in my life during the quarantine using DYWM. Love it!! I do a morning and evening practice (as I have no commute.)
As a total beginner to yoga what I would like is a sort of map of beginner programs & challenges. I realized I had done one that was more challenging before another that was less challenging. It is hard to know that without reading everything in advance. That could be in some sort of graph.
I would also like to organize bookmarks.
…Oh. One other thing. I think you should put the bookmarks link on the home page, so we don’t have to click through account menus to get there. Too much clicking through.

Your website is great! What I would love though, is a “no music” option or a warning when there is music on ! :slightly_smiling_face:

I have just requested this “bread crumb” feature as well!

Great, thank you!

I agree. I would love to have Music / No Music noted in the descriptions. Personally, I really like the music on the ones I’ve heard on DYWM.

Maybe a few beginner sessions or a specific programme with modifications for those of us that are inflexible or dealing with injuries? I was really lucky with my first foray into yoga, I had a very patient teacher. Being very inflexible, I was very unsure about trying yoga and I would never have believed it could help me.

I would love to be able to create a playlist of classes. I practice with a group of friends and it would be great if we could create a series of classes we want to do together and set that up so we are not searching for a particular class when we get together.

Thank you for all your work on DYWM. It is appreciated, especially during Covid-19. I also appreciated all the help when I was having problems with the videos freezing on my iPad. I have not had a problem in months.
I would like the Bookmarks easier to access, perhaps between Manage Account and Log Out under the avatar on the right side of the page or a link on the line to the left of the Search Box. I know I have to log in before I can access my Bookmarks, but I find getting to the current Bookmarks on my Account page to be inconvenient. I would also like a way to group or categorize my Bookmarks.

Great suggestions, everyone. Our website upgrade is coming soon and will address many of these.
Thanks!

I absolutely love DYWM. I’d like to see a “30 minutes a day” intermediate program, especially if it were something ongoing (without having to do a search each time). I’ve tried some of the programs/challenges, but life scheduling sometimes makes it hard to stay on track, especially when some days the practice is 50 minutes or longer.

I’d also love to see a program specifically for trauma recovery (psycho-emotional, not physical). I realize it’s a big task, but I trust the skills of your instructors. I’ve used DYWM in my own recovery, but it be would far more helpful and accessible if I didn’t have to choose the classes myself each day. I truly believe you all have the power to bring deep healing to the world. You have for me, already.

It would also be nice to more easily track where I am in a program/challenge besides the bookmark function or email. No bright ideas, but it’s a lot of steps to find the next class in a program.

Thank you for all you do! Even without any changes, I highly recommend DYWM to anyone remotely interested in yoga!!

Thanks and great suggestions. Have you seen our Build Your Resilience and Improve Your Flexibility for Busy People 30-Day Challenges? They are pretty close to what you are looking for.

We have talked about filming classes for trauma recovery. It’s tricky, as you can imagine, but this could renew our focus on it to see how we can approach them.

We have a new version of the site coming soon that will have much better tracking options. Stay tuned!

Thanks for sharing and for spreading the word!

I agree, great idea!!

Also love the idea of a calendar, bookmarks and keeping track of classes you have taken. But overall I am a total fan of DYWM, the best yoga community ever

More classes with a higher exertion-to-contortion ratio, please. There seems to be an assumption that anybody who practices yoga begins with far more flexibility than strength or endurance. We’re not all that way! Most beginner-level classes, including those in the new men’s challenge series, call for contortions that are far beyond my range of motion, yet the classes leave me feeling as if I haven’t “worked” very hard. (I appreciate that there is a time and place for gentle practice, but I sometimes want more.) For reference, headstand and crow are within my scope of practice, but dolphin, staff, and bow are not. I enjoyed Josh’s “Salute the Sun” and Ron’s “Maintaining Center, Finding Balance.” They still challenged my flexibility more than my strength, balance, or endurance, but they felt more balanced to me that most of the hundred or so other DYWM classes I’ve done. Please consider creating more content with similar exertion-to-contortion balance, including some longer and more challenging versions.

Thanks, great feedback. It sounds to me like you might really like Pilates. Have you tried it? I have felt the same way as you sometimes, and Pilates targets the core muscles in a way that makes me feel so satisfied at the end.

Thanks David. I have taken a few Pilates classes, but I also know there’s a yoga that’s right for me.

A couple of improvements that I would use…
Being able to search bookmarks notes.
Being able to organize bookmarks in several ways that can be selected…
organize bookmarks by teacher
or
organize bookmarks by class length, level, etc

Another DYWM fan here! greetings from sunny Dubai:)

I would love to have some classes for ladies for that time of the month. I am usually not up for inversions or hard core yoga but some poses like Janu sirshasana or others. I have found such on youtube but not here.

An App would be great for the meditations.

Also, more intermediate and advanced classes with longer duration.

Cheers,
Tarn
